These solid soapstone hearts are hand-carved in the western hills of Kenya, then dyed and etched by artisans in Nairobi. They have been decorated with hand etched geometric patterns. Soap stone is widely used in Africa to make homewares and souvenirs. It is soft and easy to carve as it comprises mostly talc. Dimensions: 6cm (height), 6cm (width) and 4.5cm (thickness). Handmade and Fair Trade. Please note that because these items are handmade they may vary a little in size, colour and finish. These soft stone items occasionally also have some minor surface blemishes.
